If you haven’t started linking your bank account manually yet, please see our article on Connecting your bank account using account and routing numbers.
Overview
When you link your bank account manually (by entering your account and routing numbers), Wholesail works with our secure partner Plaid to send a small test deposit to your bank account. This deposit will include a short verification code you’ll need to enter back in Wholesail to verify your account.
Depending on your bank:
- Instant Deposit: Some banks support a near-instant $0.01 deposit, so you can verify right away (within minutes).
- 1–2 Day Deposit: Other banks may take 1–2 business days for this deposit to appear.
Either way, once you see the test deposit and code in your bank statement, you’ll return to Wholesail to enter that code and finish verifying your account.
1. Watch for the Deposit
After adding your bank account info in Wholesail, check your bank statement for a $0.01 deposit:
- If your bank supports instant micro-deposits, you may see the deposit within minutes.
- Otherwise, please wait 1–2 business days for the deposit to appear.
Tip: We’ll also send you an email reminder two days later if your account remains unverified.
2. Return to Wholesail
- Login to your Wholesail account by clicking here.
- Go to Settings in Wholesail.
- Select the Payment accounts tab.
- Look for the new account you just added—it should show as “Unverified.”
- Click the Verify button.
3. Enter the Verification Code
- Wholesail will prompt you to confirm that you’ve found the $0.01 deposit in your bank account.
- Locate the 3-letter code in the deposit description (ex. “Transfer #SZA Wholesail via Plaid”).
- Enter the 3-letter code exactly as it appears. You have a 3 attempts to get it right, so please double-check before submitting.
Important: If you run out of attempts, you’ll need to remove this bank account and add it again.
4. All Set!
That’s it! Once Wholesail confirms the code, your bank account is verified and ready for use. You can now pay invoices directly from this account in Wholesail.
Did you know? You can optionally authorize your bank account for vendor use.
This can be helpful if you want your vendor to:
- Handle ad-hoc payments on your behalf.
- Set up autopay or recurring charges without you logging in each time.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why do some banks offer an instant deposit while others take 1–2 days?
A: Plaid, our bank-linking partner, supports different networks (like FedNow or real-time payments). If your bank participates in these networks, you’ll see an instant deposit. Otherwise, you’ll receive a deposit in 1–2 business days.
Q: I entered the code incorrectly and got locked out. What should I do?
A: If you run out of attempts, remove the unverified bank account from Wholesail and re-add it. Then repeat the steps above to verify again.
Q: I never received the $0.01 deposit.
A: Double-check you entered the correct account and routing numbers. If you still don’t see the deposit after 2 business days, please contact our support team.
Q: Is my information secure?
A: Yes. We partner with Plaid, which helps you connect your bank account using industry-standard encryption and security measures.
