Wholesail gives you the option to authorize your saved payment methods so your vendor can charge them on your behalf. Vendors can then initiate one-time payments or set up autopay for your invoices without you having to log in each time.
Wholesail partners with industry-leading providers (like Stripe for credit cards and Plaid for ACH) to ensure secure payment processing. Your full payment details are never visible to your vendor or stored on Wholesail’s servers.
Authorizing Your Payment Method
1. Go to Your Payment Accounts
- Login to your Wholesail account by clicking here.
- In the top navigation, click Settings.
- Select the Payment accounts tab.
- You’ll see a list of your saved payment methods (credit cards or ACH).
2. Authorize for Vendor Use
- Next to the payment method (credit card or bank account) you want to authorize, click the Actions dropdown.
- Select Authorize for vendor use.
- Review the prompt explaining that you’re granting permission for your vendor to charge this payment method.
- Check any required boxes and click Confirm or Agree.
3. Confirmation
- Your card or bank account is now authorized for vendor use.
- Your vendor can initiate payments (one-time or autopay) in Wholesail on your behalf.
Revoking Authorization
- Login to your Wholesail account by clicking here.
- Return to Settings → Payment accounts.
- Click the Actions dropdown next to the previously authorized card or bank account.
- Select Revoke Authorization.
- Confirm you’d like to revoke access for your vendor.
Once authorization is revoked, the vendor can no longer charge your payment method or create autopay plans with it. This will not automatically cancel any active autopay plans on your account using this payment method.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What exactly can the vendor do once I authorize a payment method?
A: The vendor can create ad-hoc payments or set up autopay on your behalf. They still won’t see your full bank or card details.
Q: What if I remove the payment method entirely?
A: Removing a payment method from Wholesail also removes any authorizations tied to it. Any active autopay plans with that payment method will stop running.
Q: Can the vendor add or edit my ACH account for me?
A: No. For ACH, you must add your bank account to Wholesail yourself. The vendor can’t add or modify your bank details, which keeps your information secure.
Q: Will I be notified if my vendor charges my account?
A: Yes. You’ll receive a payment confirmation email whenever a vendor uses an authorized payment method to initiate a charge.
Q: What if I have multiple vendors?
A: You can authorize or revoke authorization for each vendor individually. Once authorized, each vendor can only see payment methods you specifically authorized for their use.
